Another Day at the Zoo

The last time we went to the zoo there were no butterflies in the butterfly tent. We were able to see some this time.

My kids in front of the elephants and their pond. The sun is in their eyes, so this time the the funny faces aren't on purpose!!

Usually when we go to the zoo, all the animals are in "hiding." This time we got a good look at some of them.

The polar bears came out to play.

I think primates are my favorite to watch. This is the first time I've been to the zoo since the baboons were added. This particular baboon took an intense dislike of Robert. He stared Robert down and would lurch at him. Does he know something I don't know?

Apple Picking Last Fall

Last Fall, Brianna's pre-school went apple picking. I know the pictures are not recent, but I still like them.

Her class.

A DAY AT THE ZOO

Dad saves the day.!!! The kids are allowed to bring a water bottle with them to the zoo.
David dropped his over one of the exhibits. Shannon patiently (ok, not so patiently) figures out how to retrieve the bottle. We , as a family, were all so intent on this task that others started gathering around to see what kind of zoo animal we were watching. Imagine their disappointment.
Brianna - always ready to pose!

Love the orangutans!! I think this one was worshipping me.

Something doesn't smell quite right at the rhino exhibit.

Doing a little work.

Brianna is the only one home with me during the school day, so I started doing some work with her to keep her occupied. We haven't done tons of work this year, but we have a head start when she goes to school in the fall. She's a bit airheaded sometimes so that tries my patience (I'm low on patience). We can't do too much work at one sitting because we both get frustrated.
She's seems to be picking up numbers and adding much easier than reading words. Some friends of mine use the book Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons . I started using it and it's been such a help. It helps me teach her how to blend the sound together to make words. We were struggling with that before the book.

Just a couple of pictures

Robert reluctantly reads to his younger sister.
Reading is not one of Robert's favorite activities.

The Video Game Effect

This is Robert. He's, well let's just say...unique. He constantly entertains us with his antics and funny stories. I've been told he'd make a great politician, because he always has a plausible(at least to him) explanation for anything he does. My mom also tells me I need to "watch him" because he has a somewhat morbid sense of humor. I think that she thinks he will end up a serial killer.

So it's either a politician or serial killer. A hard choice.

Happy Birthday Brianna

Brianna recently turned 5. I can't believe my "baby" will be going to school next year. Here's some video of the birthday song.

My husband took this video. He didn't quite catch her blowing out her own candles. He was too busy watching her!
